Rumor: The Division Won’t Make 2014 Release

The Division

GameReactor reports a source at Ubisoft Massive claims their upcoming game The Division won’t make its projected 2014 launch.

“The game engine works well, it’s not done but works well. The actual game development has barely started, however,” their source states. “The fact that Ubisoft has gone public with a 2014 release date feels laughable to be perfectly honest, we will never be able to release The Division this year. It’s a large project, and we have very far to go.”

The Division was first announced at E3 last year, where we were treated to a 7 minute gameplay demo in which we witnessed the power of next-gen gaming. The online RPG dropped jaws during the VGX Awards when Ubisoft revealed a special trailer showcasing the new Snowdrop engine. We were so excited about the engine’s features, we quickly added The Division to our list of the top 10 most anticipated games of 2014.

Last year Ubisoft delayed both Watch Dogs and The Crew to Q1 and Q2 respectively. Both announcements disappointed gamers around the globe and any delays for The Division would certainly share the same result. It’s always nice to know a game won’t be released until it’s finished, but news of possible delays never sits well with eager gamers.
