The Returned Coming to A&E

It looks like the horror wave of television isn’t quite over, Bates Motel producers are set to bring this French hit over to America. The studio’s are still discussing the details so there are currently no writers at the helm although Bates Motel producer/co-showrunner, Carlton Cuse is in talks of taking the project on. Bates Motel was a sneaky smash hit so it’s an obvious move for A&E to take on another horror show. Hopefully this is the start of some really great series’ from the network.

The Returned, inspired by a 2004 French film called They Came Back,  focuses on a small town that is turned upside down when several local people who have been long presumed dead suddenly reappear, having not aged and unaware of their own fatality. As they attempt to resume their lives, strange phenomena and gruesome murders begin to occur.

The Returned takes an incredibly unique approach, filled with suspense and twists and turns, to the subject of the living dead,” said A&E’s EVP and general manager David McKillop. The real question is, by the time this comes out will everyone be over the “living dead”? With the announcement of having TWO Walking Dead show’s on top of countless video games and movies, it’s hard to say whether this show will be as big of a hit as they want it to be. Of course, these don’t seem to be your run of the mill zombies so who knows maybe this will spawn a completely new “living dead” phenomena.
