Recap: Nintendo Direct for January 2015

Nintendo Direct January 2015

Early this morning Nintendo hit fans with all sorts of crazy announcements during the first Nintendo Direct of 2015. The major takeaways from today are North America is only getting the New 3DS XL model, while Europe gets both the regular and XL versions. Additionally, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D will launch on February 13, with themed Limited Edition New 3DS XL models.

Nintendo Direct Breakdown:

  • New 3DS XL launching in North America on February 13, 2015
  • Limited Edition Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and Major Mask Themed New 3DS XL Models
  • 3DS Games
    • New Fire Emblem game – Still working on the title, but you get the idea.
    • Xenoblade Chronicles 3D – A 3D remake of Xenoblade Chronicles from the original Wii. The game will only run on the New 3DS.
    • Puzzle & Dragons Z / Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition – Popular puzzle game in Japan that headed out west.
    • Pokemon Shuffle – Match-3 Puzzler exclusively on the Nintendo eShop.
  • Wii U
    • Mario Party 10 – Game will launch on March 20 and will support Amiibos. A special Amiibo lineup will also be available which includes Toad.
    • Xenoblade Chronicles X – The game is still scheduled for 2015 and we got to see a new exploration trailer.
    • Hyrule Warriors DLC – Majora’s Mask dlc will launch February 5 for $8 and includes two new characters (Tingle and Young Link), a new Adventure Mode map and three additional costumes.
    • Wii Games launching from Wii U Menu- Super Mario Galaxy 2 (available now) Punch-Out! (January 22) and the Metroid Prime Trilogy (January 29) will be available on the eShop. Each of these games will be 50% off their first week on sale for $10.

New Amiibos – Super Mario Series Lineup includes Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Bowser, and Toad.
