Preview Night at Comic Con

Posted on July 12, 2012 at 1:04 am by Justin Cavender

Preview night has ended, and I can’t tell you how excited we are about the next four days. In years past, preview night has always been rather low key for us. We would arrive late in the afternoon to pick up our badges, and casually walk the exhibit floor. Unfortunately, today was a tad bit different. There were thousands of people huddled together, waiting to get inside. So many fans, so many costumes, and so many mixed odors on this warm San Diego afternoon. It was great!

Once inside, we made straight for the Doctor Who booth. Two of us had to get a sonic screwdriver, and the other needed a Dalek. After that quick stop, we went back on the prowl.

Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit, had a large exhibit showcasing several posters, some in 3D, introducing all supporting characters in the film. Weta Digital also brought three large trolls for fans to pose with.

Marvel had an interesting booth with hundreds of action figures in large display cases. Mostly filled with Avengers and X-Men toys. However, Hasbro brought the works. We saw Transformers, Star Wars, G.I. Joe, and um… Battleship toys.

After looking at all the toys, we wandered through the aisles looking at all the goodies. We spoke with a few writers promoting their work, David Petersen (Mouse Guard), and Benny R. Powell (Wayward Sons).

Thursday the real con begins. We look forward to bringing you all the action. If you see us walking around, please introduce yourself. We hope to see you there!
