Disney XD has announced their multi-platform rollout for their new animated series, Star Wars Rebels.  Deadline reports that the one-hour debut, Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion will premiere on September 29th on WatchDisneyXD.com and the Watch Disney XD app.  Spark of Rebellion will then make its global TV broadcast on various Disney channels on October 3rd at 9pm (U.S).  Finally, the animated series will have its premiere on Disney XD at October 13th at 9pm (U.S.).  “The series will air in 34 languages across 163 countries in over 400 million households,” according to Disney.

It’s a huge rollout for the show, which takes place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, but it’s important to remember that The Clone Wars set a high bar with young fans of animated Star Wars, and now they’ll need to be convinced that Star Wars Rebels is a worthy successor.

Official Star Wars Rebels synopsis:

Star Wars Rebels continues the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures. It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world. As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people. But there are a select few who are brave enough to stand up against the endless Stormtroopers and TIE fighters of the Empire: the clever and motley crew of the starship Ghost. Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, have thrilling adventures, and become heroes.
