PlayStation Now Subscription

Sony announced this morning that their game streaming service known as PlayStation Now, will be available for subscribers starting on January 13. The subscription to PlayStation will provide instant and unlimited access to more than 100 PS3 games. According to the PS Blog, “the subscription service will be available first on PS4 across North America, and will come to other PlayStation Now enabled devices in the future.”

Players will be able to choose between either one month for $19.99, or a three-month package for $44.99. If you’re not sure you want to make that kind of commitment just yet, you will be able to sign up for a 7-day free trial period to test the waters first. Keep in mind, PlayStation Now will only offer PS3 games at first, with PS2 and PS1 games to follow at a later date.

Just last week during the Pixelated Podcast, Stephen and I complained about the PlayStation Now service and its crazy price-points for game rentals. We had originally thought there would be a subscription model of some sort already in play, but apparently we spoke too soon. Although, some might argue, not soon enough.

Check out the video and let us know if you’ll be one of the first to sign up!

    • Weird they didn’t just do this subscription model to begin with, or at least confirm it was happening. Hopefully this will change the hourly rental rates as well.
