Platinum Dunes Green Lights Time Travel Flick ALMANAC

Michael BayIt looks like blockbuster driven, Michael Bay is knee deep in casting for his new found footage film, Almanac. Film details are still under wraps but we do know it will be centered around a mockumentary style of found-footage film making and will deal with time travel. Casting is underway and the film is set to start production as soon as possible, attempting to be completed before Dream Works completes their own found-footage time travel film, Glimmer.

It strikes me odd that there are TWO of these very specific films going into production but that just doubles the odds of one coming out interesting. The film will be produced by Michael Bay along with his partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller. It will be directed by Dean Israelite and written by Andrew Stark and Jason Pagan. In addition to Almanac, Platinum Dunes has several upcoming films including the reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Purge which is set to hit theaters June 7th (originally May 31st).

I’ll be interested to see what kind of approach they take with this film considering Bay is known for lots of pretty things to look at and explosions. Considering found-footage doesn’t usually bode well for clear cut visuals this could be something new for Bay.
