The cast of X-Men: Apocalypse continues to grow, and Olivia Munn is the latest addition to the ensemble. Director Bryan Singer announced on Instagram today that the Newsroom and The Daily Show alum has signed on to play Betsy Braddock in the X-Men: Days of Future Past follow-up. Braddock is, of course, otherwise known as Psylocke, a mutant with the power of telepathy.

In Psylocke’s early appearances she simply played with her telepathic powers, but she later transformed into a Japanese ninja assassin, giving her additional highly developed fighting skills. Munn is of Chinese descent and was raised in Japan before moving back to the States, so it’ll be interesting to see if this iteration of Psylocke begins with her assassin powers intact, or if she’s simply a telepath. I like Munn a x-men-psylockelot (she was the highlight of The Newsroom), so whatever the case, I’m excited to see how she fares within the superhero genre.

The mutant is the latest addition to a swelling cast for X-Men: Apocalypse, which will take place in the 1980s and find the X-Men battling the ancient mutant known as Apocalypse, played by Oscar Isaac. While the large ensemble for Days of Future Past made sense given the dual time periods, it feels like Singer and Co. are planning for the departure of their main castmembers (Jennifer Lawrence already said Apocalypse is her last X-Men movie) by padding Apocalypse with a bunch of new mutants—including Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, in addition to Storm, Jubilee, and Angel.

With Lawrence poised to leave, it seems like Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy are also not likely to stick around after their contracts are up with Apocalypse. If we are in store for a mass X-Men: First Class exodus, I do hope X-Men: Apocalypse has enough time to provide a fitting sendoff for the fantastic ensemble while also introducing the slew of new mutants.
