Bigger and badder than ever, New York Comic Con has officially become the biggest and baddest pop culture event in North America!

ReedPop’s final ticket counts have tallied NYCC’s attendance at a whopping 151,000 guests – a huge 21,000 more people than San Diego Comic Cons capped attendance of 130,000.

NYCC actually surpassed SDCC in attendance last year as well, with 133,000 attendees. Most seem to consider the 3,000 person difference to be close enough to call “even” (because math works that way, I guess?), but it’s pretty hard to ignore a 21,000 person gap!

This isn’t to say that NYCC ran without error, however. Several attendees (including Comic Pros like Babs Tarr and even us Press Badge holders) didn’t receive their badges until literally 7 days before the convention began. Not to mention not a single NYCC crew member seemed to have a clue about what was going on (though they all had walkies to use for this very purpose). There were several instances in which guests had to tell each other where to find a certain booth, or what the convention times were – not to mention where to find the correct entrances – because the ReedPop staff simply didn’t know.

It will be interesting, to say the least, to see how ReedPop handles the estimated continued attendance growth at the convention going forward.

Next year’s New York Comic-Con has already been announced for October 8-11, 2015!
