If I were a betting man, I would have thought that 20th Century Fox would attach the first trailer for James Mangold’s The Wolverine to this weekend’s A Good Day To Die Hard. Not only is the same studio releasing both movies, but they are also both aimed at the same demographic, but it looks as though we won’t be getting our first look at The Wolverine for more than a month.

Earlier today rumors sprouted that we would be getting a first-look trailer at The Wolverine tomorrow, February 12th, however, Mangold has taken to his Twitter account to announce not only that the rumors were false, but that the trailer would be released in late March. Following the director’s response, Coming Soon reported that the preview would be attached to G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which will be in theaters on March 29th.

Responding to complaints that the wait for the first-look was so long, Mangold said on the social networking site,

Tell me you think we’re lame after you see the teaser. At least then you will be critiquing images from the film, not a marketing window. From end of March till release, you’ll be saturated. Relax, yuk. I’ve never found the coolest people are the first to arrive at a party.

Official synopsis;

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.

The Wolverine/em> stars Hugh Jackmam, Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Brian Tee, Rila Fukushima, Tao Okamoto and Svetlana Khodchenkova. The Wolverine opens July 26, 2013.

I am looking forward to seeing what our favorite mutant has in store for us. March 29th isn’t that far away, and the trailer might push some people who are on the fence about seeing Retaliation.
