Nintendo Wii Price drops to $129.99

Posted on October 15, 2012 at 11:46 am by Justin Cavender

Nintendo announced it’s dropping the price of the Wii console to $129.99. With the new pricing comes a new configuration, which includes a black Wii console and both Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. The console will also include a Wii Remote Plus and a Nunchuk controller. Shoppers will start to see this new configuration trickle into stores now, and will be widely available in the U.S. by October 28.

“Nearly six years after it launched, people are still attracted to the pure, inclusive fun of the Wii console,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “A new suggested retail price and the inclusion of two great games make it an easy choice for families looking for a great value this holiday season.”

I would argue $130 is a great value for the Wii, but after six years I’m hardly eager to pick one up. Especially when Nintendo will be launching their new console, the Wii U, on November 18, 2012.

What about you guys? Are you going to pick up the newly priced Wii, or are you going to hold out for the Wii U? For $300 you get a fun and festive Wii Pad, haha PASS.

You can follow Justin on Twitter @Edgyarmo and tell him how awesome your Wii U will be.

The price is right. I just wish it was $130 for the last year.
