Earlier this week, Sony and Quantic Dream released a new trailer, titled “Guilt,” for the upcoming PS3 exclusive, Beyond: Two Souls. If you’ve been watching a lot of Hulu lately, then you’ve probably seen this trailer quite a few times already. Like all game trailers, it looks freaking amazing, so we’ll see what the final product is actually like when it drops on October 8th. Check it out:

For those unfamiliar with the game’s premise:

A singularly unique psychological action thriller delivered by A-list Hollywood performances, Beyond: Two Souls™ takes you on a thrilling journey across the globe as you play out the remarkable life of Jodie Holmes.

Born with a connection to a mysterious entity with incredible powers, Jodie was different. In an adventure spanning 15 years of her life, your actions will determine Jodie’s fate as she faces extraordinary challenges, danger, and heartwrenching loss on a journey to discover the truth of who she is. Beyond: Two Souls™ promises an emotionally-charged journey unlike any video game before.

If you were a fan of Heavy Rain, then Beyond: Two Souls should be right up your alley as well. I enjoy games that are heavily story driven, which is exactly what Beyond: Two Souls sounds like. Since this is the same studio as Heavy Rain, no doubt people are worried about those annoying Quick Time Events, but David Cage of Quantic Dream stated last year that QTEs would not be present in Beyond: Two Souls.

Aside from the leap forward in technology where motion capture is concerned, Sony has also been messaging pretty hard about the fact that Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe lent their voices and likenesses to the main characters. For two actors of their caliber to become involved in this project is a pretty big deal for games in general, moving the medium even further towards mainstream appreciation.
