Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have released a new trailer for director Gareth Edwards’ upcoming monster redo Godzilla. Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston, and Elizabeth Olsen, the film “pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s arrogance, threaten our very existence.” This full-length trailer delves a bit deeper into the film’s plot without giving too much away, which is a nice change, I’m looking at you The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Cranston appears to be the film’s voice of reason as his voice narrates this new trailer, and while we do get hints of a twist on the nuclear origins of the titular monster, the main focus is really on conveying the epic scope of the film through a series of sweeping shots. They are still wisely keeping our glimpses of the titular monster to a minimum.
The film also stars Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, Ken Watanabe, and David Strathairn. Godzilla opens in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on May 16th.
Here’s the official synopsis for Godzilla:
An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.
