Disney has released a new Star Wars Rebels short, and this one shines the spotlight on Zeb Orrelios (voiced by Steve Blum).  The animated series will take place about 14 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith and centers on the fledgling rebellion as the Empire hunts down the last of the Jedi Knights to secure rule of the galaxy.  Looking at this short and the one we saw last week, I’m getting very interested in this series.  The characters are likable and rambunctious rather than trying too hard to be hip and edgy.  It’s still a kids’ show, but it looks like it could be a good one.

Star Wars Rebels premieres on Disney XD this October, and also features the voices of Freddie Prinze Jr., David Oyelowo, Vanessa Marshall, Taylor Gray, and Tiya Sircar.

Official Star Wars Rebels synopsis:

Star Wars Rebels continues the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures. It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world. As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people. But there are a select few who are brave enough to stand up against the endless Stormtroopers and TIE fighters of the Empire: the clever and motley crew of the starship Ghost. Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, have thrilling adventures, and become heroes.

    • Did anyone else recognize the familiar “Streets of Cairo/Basket Chase” theme from Raiders of the Lost ark in there? I knew they were incorporating a lot of John Williams’ familiar original SW Trilogy themes, but it’s neat to see them pull from Indiana Jones as well. It felt appropriate with this scene!
