Today we got a couple new posters from some of the films we are most excited about.

First up is Sam Raimi’s Oz the Great and Powerful. The film stars James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams, Zach Braff and Abigail Spencer and opens March 8th, 2013.

Official synopsis for Oz the Great and Powerful;

Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot–fame and fortune are his for the taking–that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity–and even a bit of wizardry–Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

Next is a fun Japanese poster for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Directed by Peter Jackson The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey stars Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Hugo Weaving, Elijah Wood, Cate Blanchett and Andy Serkis. It opens in 3D on December 14th, followed by The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug on December 13th, 2013 and The Hobbit: There and Back Again July 18th, 2014.

Official synopsis for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey;

“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” follows title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers. Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain, first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever… Gollum. Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s “precious” ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities… A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.

I dig the Japanese Hobbit poster. What about you? Are you going to see the Hobbit on IMAX for the Star Trek footage?
