New Clip from PRISONERS Starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal

Prisoners, the new film from director Denis Villeneuve (Incendies), will be making its premiere next week at the Toronto International Film Festival.  The film stars Hugh Jackman as a working-class father who sets out to track down the man he believes is responsible for kidnapping his daughter and her friend. Along the way, he runs up against the big city detective (Jake Gyllenhaal) assigned to the case. This clip features Gyllenhaal’s detective confronting a would be suspect portrayed by Paul Dano. The clip gives away little to nothing of the plot or the character’s motives, but it looks like it will be beautifully shot. The dark and rainy atmosphere mixed with flashlights makes for a great visual display. Kudos to cinematographer Roger Deakins for creating a stunning palette.

The film also stars Maria Bello, Terrence Howard, and Viola Davis.  Prisoners opens September 20th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Prisoners:

Keller Dover is facing every parent’s worst nightmare. His 6-year-old daughter and her young friend are missing, and as minutes turn to hours, panic sets in. The only lead is a dilapidated RV that had been parked on their street. Heading the investigation, Detective Loki arrests its driver, but a lack of evidence forces the only suspect’s release. Knowing his child’s life is at stake, the frantic Dover decides he has no choice but to take matters into his own hands. The desperate father will do whatever it takes to find the girls, but in doing so, may lose himself, begging the question: When do you cross the line between seeking justice and becoming a vigilante?
