New Baldur’s Gate Confirmed

Digital distributor Beamdog has confirmed that they are working on a new installment of the popular Baldur’s Gate series. Currently titled, “Adventure Y,” the game will bridge the gap between the Enhanced Editions of Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II.

Essentially, we’re looking at Baldur’s Gate 1.5. Beamdog said they would make official announcements and reveals on their blog this spring and to keep checking out Beamblog for more info until then.

Beamdog founder Trent Oster also mentioned that they are “thinking about” Baldur’s Gate III, but there is nothing official or set. Back in March of 2012, Oster mentioned that Baldur’s Gate III was going to be the company’s “long term goal.”

The official post from their blog states as follows;

This year, the eagerly anticipated Adventure Y will finally navigate the dark underground caverns of development and venture out into the Sword Coast. We’ve mentioned before that Adventure Y will be an addition to the Baldur’s Gate line using the Infinity engine, bridging the gap between Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition and Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition. Keep an eye on the Beamblog in late spring for announcements regarding the content and release date of Adventure Y. We have an exciting release planned for this game, something bigger than we’ve ever done before.
