Turns out there was some truth behind that Ridley Scott/Halo rumor from January.  The Wrap reports Scott and David Zucker of Scott Free will produce a live-action Halo project with Xbox Entertainment Studios and 343 Industries.  Sergio Mimica-Gezzan (Battlestar Galactica) will direct from a script by Paul Scheurig (Prison Break), set in the 26th century around “a surgically-enhanced super soldier who is not Master Chief.”  The format of the “chaptered digital feature project” is reportedly similar to Machima’s Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn five-part series.

Note that this is entirely separate from Steven Spielberg’s live-action Halo project, although Mimic-Gezzan served as first assistant director on eight Spielberg films including Minority Report and Saving Private Ryan.  It is expected Microsoft will reveal more about Scott’s Halo project at E3 in June and release it by the end of 2014.
