Matthew Vaughn to produce FANTASTIC FOUR reboot

Posted on February 22, 2013 at 1:30 pm by David "Snackbar" Edmundson

Matthew Vaughn was previously set to direct the X-Men: First Class sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past before stepping down to pave the way for original X-Director Bryan Singer to take the reins. Rumors were rampant that he was in the running to direct Star Wars: Episode VII, a job that eventually went to J.J. Abrams, but it looks like he might instead be involved with another superhero property. Vaughn remains a producer on Days of Future Past, and Mark Millar has revealed that Vaughn will also be producing Fox’s upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, which will be directed by Chronicle director Josh Trank. Millar was hired by Fox last fall to act as a “consultant” on all of their developing Marvel properties, and today Millar took to Twitter to share some news about the Fantastic Four reboot:

@mrmarkmillar: Just off the phone with Fox and some excellent news – Matthew Vaughn is producing Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four reboot!

Nothing but good news here. Matthew Vaughn has a great track record with comic book films having directed Kick Ass and First Class. Normally Millar, who wrote Kick Ass is a loose talker speaking in half truths and enthused speculation, but Deadline has confirmed Vaughn’s involvement.
