Matthew Vaughn Out as Director of X-Men: Days of Future Past

Reports are being released that Matthew Vaughn who directed X-Men First Class may be out as director for the sequel, X-Men: Days of Future Past. No explanation was given, but this would not be the first time Vaughn would set the table and leave before dessert. Vaughn directed the first Kick Ass, and decided to hand the franchise over to Jeff Wardlow. If reports are true Vaughn would still be attached as a producer and he wrote the current treatment that is being adapted into the screenplay.

So who would fill his spot? Early rumors point to current Executive Producer and original X-Men director Bryan Singer. Singer brought the X-Men to the screen in 2000 with the first X-Men film and in 2003 with it sequel X2. Singer also produced and wrote X-Men First Class. So he has never strayed far from the franchise and knows it better than anyone in Hollywood.

Fox wants to keep their July 18th, 2014 release date and will have to find a new director soon, especially since the original cast, including Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy, are all expected to return.

So what do you think? Are you more excited to have Singer possibly on board?
