Mass Effect Disc In Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

Chances are you are suffering from BLOPS fever today. That is, you called in sick because Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 came out and you were more than eager to throw away a paycheck to get some alone time with it. Nobody’s going to judge you, except maybe Commander Shepard.

Some PC users are reporting that the second install disc for BLOPS2, while appearing as a normal Call of Duty disc, is actually the installation material needed for Mass Effect 2. This is perhaps one of the strangest mix ups I have ever seen.

There are reports appearing on reddit, the Call of Duty community forums and YouTube, although it isn’t apparent how widespread this mistake is. Since this is only affecting the PC community, you can elect to install the game via Steam and download the missing files if you wish. How this happened, however, still appears to be a mystery and Treyarch has yet to discover where the fault is. However, Bioware and EA have stated that they will be offering free PC codes for those who have this issue for the Mass Effect: Trilogy collection. I’m certain neither had¬†anything¬†to do with this, but it’s nice that they are being proactive.

Are any of you PC gaming Geeks experiencing this issue? Here is a video of one user who is not happy about the situation.
