Marvel Rearranges Schedule to Make Room for a July 28, 2017 SPIDER-MAN Film

Earlier tonight, Sony and Marvel made a huge announcement that Spider-Man would be swinging into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  The web-slinger will first appear in the MCU in an upcoming Marvel movie (probably Captain America: Civil War) before his new solo film, which will be released on July 28, 2017.

This date means that other Marvel movies are being pushed back.  Disney has released the following date changes:

  • Thor: Ragnarok moves to 11/3/17 wide in 3D (from 7/28/17 wide in 3D)
  • Black Panther moves to 7/6/18 wide in 3D (from 11/3/17 wide in 3D)
  • Captain Marvel moves to 11/2/18 wide in 3D (from 7/6/18 wide in 3D)
  • Inhumans moves to 7/12/19 wide in 3D (from 11/2/18 wide in 3D)

thanos-guardians-of-the-galaxy-600x335Curiously, Disney hasn’t announced any changes for Avengers: Infinity War.  Part I is still due on May 4, 2018 and Part II is still due on May 3, 2019.  We’ll see if this changes or if Inhumans will be treated as a Phase 3 postscript like Marvel’s treating Ant-Man for Phase 2.
