Marvel Highlights Francavilla’s Upcoming GOTG Art

Since Infinity is an event that has everything to do with both the universe at large and Thanos, you know the Guardians of the Galaxy are going to be a major factor in the coming conflict. This week, Marvel unveiled an interesting interview with series writer Brian Michael Bendis, where he talks about how the title ties in to Infinityparticularly since so many of the characters have such strong ties to Thanos. Drax, for instance, exists to destroy him, Gamora is essentially his daughter, and Starlord seems to have some sort of arrangement with the mad Titan.

Along with talking about the characters in the book, Bendis also takes the time to highlight the new artist as well. Francesco Francavilla, widely renowned in the indie circuit for books like The Black Beetle, is bringing his noir-like style to Guardians, and so far it looks to be a fantastic fit.

“I’m a big fan of his; all of my friends are big fans of his,” says Bendis. “We have communicated via things that we like on Tumblr and every once in a while he comes up to me and says, ‘By the way, I really like sci-fi.’ Because Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the few real sci-fi books, you know? This seemed perfect for him and it fit into his schedule.”
