Marvel Goes Cosmic with Infinity this August

Age of Ultron may still be going strong, but Marvel wants to make sure you’re ready for the next big thing. Starting this August, the heroes of Earth won’t be enough come Infinity, the next major summer event from the publisher. Written by renowned comic writer Jonathan Hickman, and with art from Jim Cheung, Jerome Opena and Dustin Weaver, Infinity promises to be the biggest event yet, pulling in heroes from across the entire galaxy to combat a deadly race making their way to Earth. What sounds even more fascinating is that apparently the only thing protecting Earth while its heroes are away is Thanos, the mad Death-obsessed Titan who has tried to destroy it so many times before.

The six-issue event begins this August, but if you can’t possibly wait that long, you’re in luck. To celebrate the greatest of comic holidays, Marvel with be giving away FCBD: Infinity, a free preview issue available this May on Free Comic Book Day. This preview promises to setup the event, and will also feature a standalone Thanos story that has never been reprinted before.

I’m personally excited for this event, as it promises to shine a spotlight on characters that don’t typically get much attention, particularly Black Bolt of the Inhumans. Will it meet my optimistic expectations? We all get to find out starting this August!
