Mark Millar Says X-Men and Fantastic Four Films Take Place in the Same Universe: Teases Crossover

20th Century Fox is trying to replicate the success of Marvel’s Cinema Universe with it’s own small corner of the Marvel Universe.  Fox owns the rights to the X-Universe and the Fantastic Four, and earlier this year they hired Mark Millar (Kick-Ass) to head up the studio’s comic book film franchises.  The X-Men movies are moving right along with X-Men: Days of Future Past due out May 23, 2014, and Josh Trank (Chronicle) is currently at work on The Fantastic Four, a franchise reboot that is set to open on March 6, 2015. When asked by SFX about crossing the ffranchises over, Millar responded:

“Without question I think you have to see some of these guys showing up in each other’s movies. I think the most exciting thing in superhero movies, until The Avengers came along, was when Nick Fury showed up in Iron Man. Even though it was a guy with an eye patch it was really cool – and I expect we will see more of that.”

I’m not sure if we need a traditional crossover, but the Fantastic Four reboot could probably benefit from an established X-Men or two showing up to lend legitimacy to their franchise.  My bet is on Wolverine, the films and comics have proven that, when in doubt put Wolverine in it. No matter how much it angers  The Mighty Jerd. Fantastic Four is slated for a 2015 release, so we won’t hear anything for a while.
