LEGO and George Lucas “Special Edition” Trailers for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

Posted on November 30, 2014 at 1:24 pm by David "Snackbar" Edmundson

There were some solid fan-made Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailers making the rounds well before any official promos hit, but now that the teaser trailer is finally here, there’s a lot more material to work with.  Not only has some pretty impressive Star Wars wallpaper just surfaced, but someone else opted to recreate the entire Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer using Legos.

As good as the Lego trailer is, wait until you see what one YouTube user managed to accomplish just days after the teaser trailer’s release.  The “Star Wars: Episode VII Trailer – George Lucas’ Special Edition” is all about poking fun at George Lucas and the fact that his frames were “so dense” and that “every single image has so many things going on.”  The piece is a pretty brilliant jab at Lucas’ tendency to overdo the visual effects, but it’s also worth noting that this fan-made trailer is a pretty impressive VFX achievement. I almost wet myself when Oscar Isaac dodges a blaster bolt inside his X-Wing Han Solo special edition style.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Crystal Clarke, Pip Andersen, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker, and is due to hit theaters in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D on December 18, 2015.
