We talked to Grant Morrison about Annihilator last year and told you then it was a must read, and it looks like the Eisner Awards agree with our assessment. Morrison has been nominated for Best Writer for his work on this title as well as Multiversity for DC, and it’s a well deserved nomination.

Fortunately, Legendary has announced the perfect way to get introduced to the series if you haven’t already, and that’s in a hardcover collection due out August 11th. Take a look at the official announcement and cover art below, as well as another interview with Morrison about the project.

Grant Morrison’s Eisner Nominated Annihilator Released In Hardcover This August From Legendary Comics

Just one day after finding out that Grant Morrison has been nominated for a prestigious Eisner Award for his work on Legendary Comics’ ANNIHILATOR and DC Comics Multiversity, Legendary has announced that the six issue ANNIHILATOR will be available in hardcover this August. The critically-acclaimed series, which is Morrison “putting his stamp on Hollywood” (The Hollywood Reporter), is brought to life with stunning artwork from Frazer Irving (Batman and Robin, Judge Dredd, Necronauts).

An original graphic novel odyssey directly from Morrison’s subversive mind, the reality-bending sci-fi adventure like not other tells the story of washed-up Hollywood screenwriter Ray Spass who is caught in a downward spiral of broken relationships, wild parties and self-destruction. Out of luck and out of chances, he’s one failed script away from fading into obscurity. Little does he know he’s about to write the story of his life.

As his imagination runs rampant, Ray must join forces with his own fictional character Max Nomax on a reality-bending race to stop the entire universe from imploding… without blowing his own mind in the process.
