Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Today during Konami’s third annual “Pre-E3 Show,” they finally confirmed Kiefer Sutherland will be the new voice of Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. I’d like to take a moment to let that sink in. I’m a huge fan of the Metal Gear franchise and this news is still a bit of a shock to me. Hideo Kojima can be a silly goose and I’m hoping we are all victims of Kojima’s “trolling” talents. Imagine in a few days at E3, if David Hayter were to show up and blow the lid off this scandal? It would be a huge fan service and there would be a thundering applause. Check out at cryptic tweet sent out last week from Mr. Hayter.

Regardless of which actor ends up voicing Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, I know I’ll pick it up and undoubtedly love it. The Metal Gear series found its way into my heart at a very young age on the NES. There’s no way that could ever change, but swapping out Hayter for someone else is certainly a bold move. I’m sure Kiefer Sutherland will do an amazing job and I can’t wait to get my hands on The Phantom Pain.

Now would be a good time to remind you that Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection for PlayStation 3 will be available July 9. This amazing collection includes Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, Metal Gear Solid 2: HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid 3: HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid 4 Trophy Edition and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD Edition.

Watch Konami’s “Pre-E3 Show” below. Metal Gear coverage beings at the 10:30 mark in the video.
