Kano Mortal Kombat X

Ed Boon, Creative Director at Netherrealm Studios gives Mortal Kombat fans a peek at Kano’s ruthless abilities. Kano, like other all characters in the game, features three unique fighting styles for players to choose from. Each comes with its own special abilities to destroy your opponent and¬†ultimately finish him or her provided you’ve entered in the correct button sequence.

Kano’s three styles include Cutthroat (knife attacks), Cybernetic (laser eye and projectiles), and Commando (grappling). Each style has it’s own benefits, but I’m partial to his laser eye ability which will help stop arial attacks.

During E3 we were lucky enough to get a demo of Mortal Kombat X and we speculated the game took place at least 25 years after the events of Mortal Kombat 9. It turns out we were partially correct.

Speaking with IGN¬†“It’s a direct continuation, but the timespan it crosses is 25 years in length,” Boon explained regarding¬†Mortal Kombat X‘s storyline. “There are periods that are directly after MK9, then there are periods that are five, ten, 15 and 20 years out. A lot of the events take place 25 years after where we see older versions of the characters, like Cassie Cage and all that. But it does jump around in time; it’s not a linear thing.”

Mortal Kombat X looks to have at least 24 playable characters available at launch. So far only eight have been revealed, but we’re still a long way from the game’s 2015 release. Of course it would be silly to rule out additional characters coming our way via DLC.
