Justice League of America Heads to Canada

Superheroes get hurt a lot. Hell, superheroes die a lot, which must make their medical insurance rates insanely cost prohibitive. The solution? Head for Canada!

The Toronto Star has revealed that, following the events of Trinity War and Forever Evil, the Justice League of America will head for its northerly neighbor, becoming the Justice League of Canada. Adding authenticity to the move, the book will be written by Toronto’s own Jeff Lemire.

“This is like my ultimate dream job,” said Lemire. “It sounds like a joke and something like this would never happen, but it is actually happening, and I couldn’t be happier. It really is just trying to make an honest portrayal of the places and the country and people that I know. That’s why I’m setting it in Toronto and Northern Ontario, because those are the places that I really know well.”

The move will bring several of the current members to Canada, as well as introducing new characters as well, including the return of Adam Strange (who will be Canadian in the New 52 because why not?). One of these new characters will be integral to the team heading to Canada in the first place, according to Lemire.

“I’m trying to make a character that reflects a real part of our cultural identity, who could be a real Canadian teenager. That’s what I’m really after with that,” said Lemire of this new character.
