Joss Whedon reveals character details for S.H.I.E.L.D.

Joss Whedon has recently released a few character descriptions from his ABC television show centering around S.H.I.E.L.D. Joss is writing the show with long time collaborator Jed Whedon and Jed’s wife Maurissa Tancharoen (Dollhouse). No word on whether or not Whedon will direct the pilot, but he seems very excited about this show so it’s not out of the realm of possibilities for him to direct the pilot before turning it over.

Here are the descriptions from TV Line;

Skye – This late-20s woman sounds like a dream: fun, smart, caring and confident – with an ability to get the upper hand by using her wit and charm.
Agent Grant Ward – Quite the physical specimen and “cool under fire,” he sometimes botches interpersonal relations. He’s a quiet one with a bit of a temper, but he’s the kind of guy that grows on you.
Agent Althea Rice – Also known as “The Calvary,” this hard-core soldier has crazy skills when it comes to weapons and being a pilot. But her experiences have left her very quiet and a little damaged.
Agent Leo Fitz and Agent Jemma Simmons – These two came through training together and still choose to spend most of their time in each other’s company. Their sibling-like relationship is reinforced by their shared nerd tendencies – she deals with biology and chemistry, he’s a whiz at the technical side of weaponry.

Sounds like the cast to every Joss Whedon show ever. Anyone that stands out to you? Any ideas for who to cast?

    • Mr. The Plague

      I can't wait to hear you guys talk about this on the podcast!

      • Oh don't you worry your pretty plague face. We got this.

    • Stephen Janes

      So in other words, they will be casting Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin, Summer Glau and Gina Torres, which makes this Firefly 2.0

    • Cha-Cha

      I'm sure that Samuel L Jackson shows up firvthr pilot. A way to bridge the series with the film. Kind of how each Star Trek show had a cameo from the previous crew.
