James Robinson Latest Talent to Leave DC

Posted on May 19, 2013 at 8:50 am by Tyler Waterman

Another week, another surprising exit as longtime DC scribe James Robinson (Superman, Legends of the Dark Knight, Starman, and most recently Earth 2) suddenly announced on twitter that he was leaving the company.

“So as of today I am leaving Earth 2 with Issue #16. It’s been a blast,” tweeted Robinson. “Yes, this also means I’m no longer working at DC Comics. Best wishes and regards to Dan [DiDio], Geoff [Johns] and everyone.”

This was surprising, and not just because it was so sudden. Robinson had made it clear he had long-term plans for Earth 2 in an interview with CBR in April, which makes it hard to believe this exit was expected. DC Comics had no comment regarding the departure.

It’s too bad, as Earth 2 was a solid and enjoyable read, and it looked like big things were on the way as well with a new Batman about to make an appearance. Issue #16 will be Robinson’s final issue, set to be released in either September or October.
