Is Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes too Short?

Ground Zeroes

Those of you looking to get your tactical espionage action fix with Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, might be in for a surprise. According to this month’s issue of Game Informer, the campaign mission for Ground Zeroes can be completed in “just less than two hours.”

I have to admit I’m a little shocked at how quickly the campaign was completed. Two hours seems like a somewhat reasonable time to get a feel for the new direction the franchise is headed. However, I’m more concerned with the pricing and whether or not fans will get their money’s worth. The PS3 and Xbox 360 digital versions will run you $20, while the physical copy will set you back $30. Furthermore, those of you planning to get your stealthy feet wet on PS4 or Xbox One, will have to pony up $30 for the digital copy or a whopping $40 for the physical copy.

It’s definitely worth noting the game does include side missions and bonus objectives. Sure you can complete the main mission and walk away, but you would be depriving yourself of additional content. Also included are exclusive missions for both Sony and Microsoft versions of the game.

This news has left me with a few questions that I’ll have ask my co-host, Stephen, on the Pixelated Podcast. How do you feel about paying an extra $10 for the digital version for either the PS4 or Xbox One? Do you believe $40 is a fair price for an appetizer while you wait for the main course? Should we consider the possibility that MGS 5 will start a trend by increasing the price for multi-platform titles available on both console generations?

I would love to hear your thoughts and I’d be happy to share them on the Pixelated Podcast this Friday.

Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes will be available for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on March 18.
