Hugh Laurie passes on ROBOCOP

Posted on August 24, 2012 at 10:03 am by David "Snackbar" Edmundson

Negotiations between Hugh Laurie and producers of the the Robocop remake have reportedly fallen apart. Variety’s Jeff Sneider is reporting that Laurie won’t be doing battle with Detroit’s cybernetic top cop. The cast at this point is still stellar with Joel Kinnaman, Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Jay Baruchel, Abbie Cornish, Michael K. Williams, and Jackie Earle Haley reportedly on board. No reason was given for Laurie’s exit, but rumors have been circling the Internet that the script is not stellar.

RoboCop is set to open on August 9, 2013.

I loved Laurie on House and think he would have been a great villain. Oh well, maybe he'll change his mind.

It's funny. I don't like the show House, but love Hugh Laurie. Makes no sense.

I'm not sure about his movie. I enjoy the original so much and I'm a little nervous about a remake.
