HOT TUB TIME MACHINE sequel possibly in the works without John Cusack

Hot Tub Time Machine might not seem like a film successful enough to warrant a sequel. Despite its so-so $14 million opening weekend, the movie had legs, reaching $50 million domestically. Plus, like a lot of R-rated comedies it found a second life on DVD and cable reruns. Heat Vision is reporting that there is apparently enough incentive for MGM to enter into “exploratory talks” with Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, and Clark Duke to reprise their roles for a sequel. John Cusack, the lead in the original, is curiously not involved at this stage.

Steve Pink is also in talks to return as director. Pink would work out the story with Corddry. No details are available yet, but with a hot tub time machine at your disposal the sky’s the limit. There is no guarantee that a deal will come together, but if one does, production will reportedly be fast-tracked.
