Horrifying Collectibles: Waxwork Records

The Halloween season brings out the collector in all horror fans, even more so than the rest of the year. So this month on my quest to bring you horror bliss daily I thought I’d showcase some of my favorite collectibles. This week we are focusing on music, more specifically we are looking at horror scores. If there is anything we love more than teenagers getting murdered by psycho’s it’s horror movie scores.

Be it subtle and eerie like Rosemary’s Baby or insane and over the top like Suspiria we love it all. Enter an up and coming company I recently discovered called Waxwork Records. They specialize in bringing the best horror scores to vinyl and customizing them to fit each film. I recently picked up Re-Animator that comes in a vibrant green color that says “Cat dead. Details later.” each on respective sides. The transfer is wonderful and the record itself is sturdy and durable, unlike some new vinyl’s I have purchased. The package also came with a really awesome poster of the original art used on the slip cover.

Waxwork is really a great company and extremely well priced between $20 and $35 depending on how much you are getting from the package. This October we will see the release of one of my favorite soundtracks, Day of the Dead, which will come with 2 records, director’s liner notes, a poster and more. These suckers go fast though so you have to keep on your toes if you want to order one before it goes out of stock. Check out their site here for other releases and news!

Records not your thing? No worries, stay tuned next week to find out what else I love to collect in another edition of Horrifying Collectibles!
