As 20th Century Fox looks ahead to the debut of Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse, the marketing department is looking back, like way back. New “historical” promos have surfaced, ones which track the disastrous appearances of Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), the world’s first mutant. It turns out that the film’s title villain has been among us for millennia, but it remains to be seen whether or not the Marvel mutants can stop his destructive campaign this time around.

Professor X (James McAvoy) and his team, comprised of Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), and Quicksilver (Evan Peters), take on Apocalypse’s Four Horsemen of Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Psylocke (Olivia Munn), and Angel (Ben Hardy). Also starringSophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee,Lana Candor, Rose Byrne, and Josh Helman, X-Men: Apocalypse opens in theaters on May 27th.

Take a look at the new promos for X-Men: Apocalypse, now with 100% more historical accuracy (via Twitter):

Here’s the official synopsis for X-Men: Apocalypse:

Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
