Halo: The Master Chief Collection won’t be the only new Halo game out this year, as a “spiritual successor” to Halo: Spartan Assault has been revealed. Halo: Spartan Strike is a brand new game created by Vanguard Games and 343 Industries that will feature refinements and feedback from the previous game. This isometric shooter will feature a storyline that both takes place during the events of Halo 2 as well as after the events of Halo 4.

If game length was one of your criticisms about the last installment, Spartan Strike is longer and will scale difficulty as the missions progress. The game also brings about new enemies like the Forerunner Prometheans as well as new vehicles like the Warthog or the Mega-Bloks inspired human VTOL ground unit known as the Kestrel. New weapons will also include the Forerunner’s arsenal in addition to all the returning classics.

As with the previous Spartan Assault, unlocking achievements in this new game will unlock content for the upcoming Master Chief Collection in the form of an avatar, emblem, and nameplate. So if you want some cool unique customizations be sure to pick up Spartan Strike, out on Windows 8(.1), WIndows 8(.1) Phones, and Steam for $5.99 on December 12th.

Expect to see a 360/One version of Spartan Strike at some point soon, if Spartan Assault was anything to judge by. Be sure to keep it here on Geek Legacy for all the latest on Halo news!
