The 2015 Golden Globe winners have all been announced, and the biggest movie awards of the night went to Boyhood (Best Drama) and The Grand Budapest Hotel (Best Comedy or Musical).  Keep in mind that the Golden Globes winners won’t influence Oscar voting since those ballots were due last week.  Also, the Golden Globes are backed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which are a group of sycophants who like being around famous people (fittingly, last-minute shooting for the Entourage movie took place during the red carpet).  That being said, it’s looking likely that at least two of this year’s Oscar nominees for Best Picture will be Boyhood and Grand Budapest Hotel.

The Globes are refreshingly brave with TV, and take much bigger chances than the Emmys.  This year, the Golden Globes made a splash by awarding Best Comedy Series to Transparent, an Amazon.com show about a transgender parent played by Jeffrey Tambor (who won Best Actor in a Comedy Series).  Other big TV winners were Fargo for Best Mini-Series or TV Movie and The Affair for Best Drama Series.

Winners in red.
