GHOSTBUSTER Reboot Cast Announced

It’s all coming together for The Heat and Bridemaids director Paul Feig‘s upcoming Ghostbusters reboot and now we can actually meet the ladies who will be busting said ghosts.  The rumors about Melissa McCarthy donning a proton pack turned out to be correct.  And she’ll be joined by Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones (Saturday Night Live, Top Five) and Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live, Life Partners).  Feig is currently writing the script with Katie Dippold (The Heat).

THR broke the story, which Feig then confirmed via an image of the four actresses on Twitter.  If a Ghostbusters reboot has to paul-feig-03-600x400happen, this seems like a good cast for it and I’m looking forward to seeing how Feig puts it all together.

Feig previously stated that assembling a female cast was a conceptual no-brainer for him and that he intends for this film to be scarier than the original:

“A lot of people accused it of being a gimmick.  I guess I can see the cynics’ view of it, but for me I just love working with funny women.  People said, ‘Why don’t you do a mix?’  I’m just more interested in the idea of lady Ghostbusters. It’s the way my brain works.  I want ours to be scarier than the original, to be quite honest.  Katie Dipold and I are so focused on wanting to do scary comedy.  We don’t want to hold back.”

For those taking this casting as a rumor, check out Feig’s tweet below.  These are our new Ghostbusters.  Kudos to him for sticking to his guns amongst misinformed fanboy outrage.
