After a brilliant VHS-tinged teaser, Netflix has released the first full trailer for the prequel series Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. This is the culmination of years of talk about a follow-up to the 2001 cult comedy film Wet Hot American Summer, as co-writer/director David Wain and his cast were keen on making a prequel in which the now forty-something actors would be playing younger versions of their 2001 selves. They finally got to make it in the form of a Netflix miniseries, and result looks absolutely fantastic.

As the title suggests, the eight half-hour episodes take place on the first day of camp back in 1981. Logistics be damned—Wain was able to wrangle nearly every single original cast member to reprise their roles, plus a slew of new faces like Jordan Peele, Kristen Wiig, and “introducing Jon Hamm.” This trailer highlights all of them, and it’s everything I hoped for out of a Wet Hot American Summer prequel and more. The actors haven’t missed a beat, and Wain and Co. are keeping things very weird—I love the slight change made to Christopher Meloni’s character on the first day of camp as opposed to the last.

Marvel at the trailer and poster below. All eight episodes premiere on Netflix on July 31st, and the series also stars Elizabeth Banks, H. Jon Benjamin, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Janeane Garofalo, Nina Hellman, David Hyde Pierce, Joe Lo Truglio, Ken Marino, AD Miles, Marguerite Moreau, Zak Orth, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Marisa Ryan, Molly Shannon and Michael Showalter.
