Full Length DOCTOR WHO Trailer for Season 8

The season 8 premiere of Doctor Who is only six weeks away, and BBC One has released a full length trailer for the new season. Check it out!

As always, we’re going to see some Daleks, but no doubt fans will be pumped to see the addition of dinosaurs and some weird robot-knight looking guy with a glowing purple forehead. I know I am!

What I’m more excited about, though, is a contemplative Doctor who’s trying to come to terms with the sort of person he’s become. In the trailer, he confides to Clara, “I’ve lived for over two thousand years. I’ve made many mistakes. It’s about time that I did something about that.” It sounds like the good Doctor isn’t so sure that he’s “good” after all, and he’s eager to make amends for the things he’s not proud of.

I’ve made no bones in the past about my disappointment in the series, especially after last season, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have hope for the future. To whit, this trailer has reignited my interest in the new series, so it’s definitely doing its job right. I already like how Peter Capaldi is playing this new version of the Doctor. He’s not upbeat and buoyant like David Tennant and Matt Smith were; instead, he’s portraying a much more sober Doctor who’s had many centuries to think about his life and what it means to him. When Clara says, “I think I know who the Doctor is anymore,” she’s not making idle chit chat. Hopefully that change is for the better.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for August 23rd, and let us know what you thought of the new trailer!
