Fox Teases Predator News

predator20th Century Fox posted a strange photo on the Predators Facebook page yesterday. The picture consisted of an overhead thermal shot of the area surrounding the convention center that will host SDCC this year. It was also accompanied by a familiar quote from the first film which stated, “There’s something out there waiting for us and it ain’t no man… we’re all gonna die.” There has been rumors of a special announcement from Fox at the SDCC this year and this mysterious picture may be hinting at what it may be. A possible new Predator movie in the works?   Predator is a classic of the 80’s action films, but the subsequent sequels have never been able to really catch the magic of the first one. The 1990 Predator 2 starring Danny Glover and Gary Busey always felt a little flat and the two Alien vs. Predator films which boil down to really poor fan service are better left forgotten. The 2010 reboot Predators which was produced by Robert Rodriguez added some interesting twists to the franchise, but since then the Predators have slipped into camo mode with little more than a peep.

I for one am on board for another Predator movie if that is what this picture means. Right now this is all speculation and it might not even be a movie at all.  Fox could be announcing a Predator video game which after the terrible Aliens: Colonial Marines from a few months back would only be troubling news. Here is a curve ball idea out of left field, maybe it’s the announcement of a full fledged production of Predator: The Musical. Now that I can get behind, but I highly doubt that theory. A boy can dream, right? I guess we will just have to wait till SDCC to find out what this possible news is and just hope for the best.  We’ll have a team covering San Diego Comic Con this weekend.  Stephen will be covering the Fox presentation in Hall H on Saturday, and David will be attending the press conference immediately following the panel.  Between them we should have a better picture of what to expect.
