First Trailer for AMC’s PREACHER Adaptation

Posted on November 2, 2015 at 10:49 am by David "Snackbar" Edmundson

During last night’s new episode of The Walking Dead, AMC premiered the first trailer for its upcoming series Preacher. Based on the comic series of the same name by writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon, the story follows Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), a small town preacher in Texas who is imbued with the word of god, which allows him to command other people.

However, this is a small part of the much larger tapestry in the comic, which also includes Jesse’s old flame Tulip (Ruth Negga), Irish vampire Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), the deformed and vengeful Arseface (Ian Colletti), and many more. You don’t even see Jesse’s ability in this trailer, and instead our first look at the show is more about the lonesome, angry, violent tone.

Check out the first Precher trailer below, and sound off in the comments section with your thoughts.

Here’s the official synopsis for Preacher:

Based on the twisted and popular ‘90s comic book franchise of the same name, “Preacher,” created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, is the story of Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper, Agent Carter) a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun, This Is England) embark on a journey to, literally, find God. The Sony Pictures Television and AMC Studios co-production was developed for television by Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg (“This Is the End,” “Superbad,” “Neighbors”) and showrunner Sam Catlin (“Breaking Bad”). The series is set to premiere mid-2016.
