First Officially Licensed Star Trek Beer Unveiled; Named Klingon Warnog

Posted on March 25, 2014 at 10:18 am by David "Snackbar" Edmundson

Warnog in Space CanHeghlu’meH QaQ jajvam is Klingon for “Today is a good day to die,” and Klingons are fond of throwing that phrase around at the drop of a hat.  But all Star Trek fan know, that when they’re not locked in bat’leth combat to the death, they have been known to knock back a couple with their fellow warriors. Now with the first officially licensed Star Trek beer you can too. It is called Klingon Warnog, and it will make it’s debut today.

Announced Monday, Warnog is the product of a partnership between CBS Consumer Products and the Federation of Beer, brewed by Tin Man Brewing Company of Evansville, Indiana. The beer’s flavor draws from blending rye malt with a traditional clove character, creating what CBS calls “a bold beer suited for the harsh Klingon lifestyle.”

The beer will be previewed at the Nightclub & Bar Show in Las Vegas on March 25, before being released across the U.S. and Canada later this year. With any luck, this will be just the first in a line ofStar Trek beverages. Who wouldn’t want to see Vulcan-themed teas or Ferengi-inspired cocktails?
