FAST & FURIOUS Star Paul Walker Dead at 40 **UPDATED**

Posted on November 30, 2013 at 7:02 pm by David "Snackbar" Edmundson

It is truly a sad day for action film fans. Actor Paul Walker, star of the immensely popular Fast & Furious franchise has reportedly perished in a car wreck outside Los Angeles.

According to TMZ;

Paul Walker — best known for his role in “The Fast and the Furious” movies — died Saturday afternoon after a single-car accident and explosion in Southern California … TMZ has learned.

The accident happened in Santa Clarita — north of Los Angeles — and according to multiple sources connected to Paul … the actor was in a Porsche when the driver somehow lost control and slammed into a post or a tree … and then the car burst into flames.

Several of our sources — some who are still at the scene of the accident — tell us Paul and another person in the car were killed. Law enforcement is still on the scene, and we’re told the L.A. County Coroner’s Office is on the way.

They typically break news like this first because they don’t wait for double confirmations like most major outlets, and it’s also worth noting that several other outlets are reporting that it is a hoax. I really hope that is the case, Paul Walker recently promised us Fast & Furious 8,9,10, even 50 so his death would definitely sour the franchise. If this tragic news is true; how would you want the film makers to handle his death in the franchise? Recast? Statham kills him off screen?

We will update the story as we get more information.

[Update] Variety is reporting that they have a source close to the actor which has confirmed his involvement.  A spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department could not confirm the identities of the two victims nor confirm the cause of the accident. Authorities said they responded to the crash at about 3:30 p.m. PT and found the car engulfed in flames. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Paul Walker’s Twitter had the following message.

      Truly a sad day indeed! The Fast & Furious films are great and they simply won’t be the same without his involvement. I really don’t know how they could handle his passing in the films. I don’t think he can be recast as he really owned that role. He will probably be killed offscreen and perhaps they’ll give the Rock a bigger role to avenge it with Vin Diesel. My thoughts go out to his friends, fans & family! He will be truly missed!
