The Elder Scrolls: Tamriel Unlimited

Zenimax announced this morning that Elder Scrolls Online will be dropping its required subscription and shifting to the buy-to-play model for PC on March 17. Of course players can opt for a premium subscription known as ESO Plus, which gets subscibers the added perks of a reoccurring allotment of crowns, and access to all DLC game packs for the duration of their membership. This entire change up begins with the rebranding of the game to Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited.

For the first time in history, you’ll be able to explore the legendary world of Tamriel with your friends on console. We’re excited to announce that The Elder Scrolls® Online will be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One worldwide on June 9, 2015 as The Elder Scrolls® Online: Tamriel Unlimited™! In the latest and biggest Elder Scrolls game ever made, you can choose to adventure alone, quest with friends, or join an army of hundreds in epic player vs. player battles as you explore and discover the secrets of a persistent Tamriel. And with Tamriel Unlimited, coming to console on June 9th and PC/Mac on March 17th, 2015, you will no longer be required to pay a monthly game subscription to play ESO.

The buy-to-play model continues with the release of Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited on PS4 and Xbox One coming on June 9, 2015. Those of you that pre-ordered the game for either console can rest easy knowing an official launch date is set, even though the game was delayed a whole year. Chalk this one up to the better late than never approach. Here’s to hoping it’s finally completed and polished this time around.
