The Elder Scrolls: Online

The video presentation for The Elder Scrolls: Online was brief, because they wanted us to get our hands on the game as fast as possible.  One of the things that the presenter assured us, is that the game will be as large as the ENTIRE continent of Tamriel.  Skyrim, Morrowind, Hammerfell, Cyrodiil will all be featured within the game.  He also walked us through some footage of the First-Person mode, as it would not be available in the demo we were about to play.  The game looks great, the environments have the same Elder Scrolls beauty that we’ve all come to know and love.  They even showed us some footage of a 200 person siege.  I got to sit down and play it for about 30 minutes, and the game is shaping up to be the next big MMORPG.

The demo that I was privileged enough to play was featured on the PC.  The character creation is as in depth as you would expect.  I would have liked to see a little more as far as customizing facial features (cheekbone height, nose width…etc) but it just isn’t there.  You are able to equip your character with abilities such as pierce, and horned armor as you run around a small town in Daggerfall performing various tasks for the townsfolk.  The combat is similar to Skyrim.  The only difference, is that your abilities are accessed through a WoW-style system of hotkeys (is hotkeys even a term anymore?)

I am not a huge MMO gamer.  In fact, I still have 3 days left on my EVE Online trial, but I know a good game when I see one, and The Elder Scrolls: Online is definitely going to make a huge impact on the gaming world when it drops in Spring 2014.
