Today Blizzard has announced Diablo III: Reaper of Souls will launch on March 25, for PC and Mac. The story continues with Act V, an all new chapter where our Nephalem heroes will face-off against Malthael, the Angel of Death. Reaper of Souls raises the level cap to 70 and also introduces a new hero, the Crusader, as a playable class. Additional features include Adventure Mode, Bounties (randomized objectives), Nephalem Rifts, and the Mystic artisan (used to customize loot).

“With Reaper of Souls, we’re taking Diablo III back to its darker, deadlier roots and also giving players a new way to experience the game,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “In addition to adding a new character class, a new act, and tons of fully randomized new content, we’re opening up the world so players are free to explore the game as they see fit, whether it’s following along with the story line or charting their own course across Sanctuary.”

The new expansion is available for pre-order for both standard and deluxe editions. The Standard Edition (digital or physical copy) has a MSRP of $39.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition is priced at $59.99 which contains beaucoup loot:

  • Exclusive helm- and weapon-transmogrification recipes for players to distinguish their characters among the champions of Sanctuary
  • A Spectral Hound minion players can summon to keep their adventurers company on their epic journey
  • Three additional character slots to accommodate new heroes
  • World of Warcraft® in-game companion pet, the Treasure Goblin, ready to compete in Pet Battles
  • A set of StarCraft® II Crusader-themed Battle.net® portraits and Malthael-themed decals

The Reaper of Souls Collector’s Edition comes with everything from the Digital Deluxe Edition and also includes a hardcover art book, a behind-the-scenes Blu-ray/DVD two-disc set, and a mouse pad for $79.99.

Prior to the expansion’s release, Diablo III will undergo an new patch on March 18, which will eliminate both the gold and real-money auction houses.
