Christopher Nolan discusses MAN OF STEEL

We are just a couple of days from the first full trailer of Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, which will play before showings of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. We should know a lot more about the story at that time, but in the meantime all we can do is ponder the meaning of this poster. Luckily for us Batman mastermind and Man of Steel producer Christopher Nolan recently sat down to promote the Blu-Ray release of Dark Knight Rises and talked briefly about Man of Steel.

When asked, if Man of Steel fits into the superhero universe that he crafted with his Dark Knight Trilogy Nolan said;

“Well, somewhat. But I wouldn’t want people to think we’re doing for Superman what we did for Batman.”

Nolan discussing how the films will be different;

“It’s very much Zack’s film and I think people are going to love what he’s done. I think it’s really remarkable to take on that character. Superman is a completely different character than Batman. So you can’t in anyway use the same template. But David Goyer had this, I thought, brilliant way to make Superman relatable and relevant for his audience. Zack has built on that and I think it’s incredible what he’s putting together. He’s got a lot of finishing to do on that. Superman is the biggest comic book character of them all and he needs the biggest possible movie version which is what Zack’s doing. It’s really something.”

There have been countless comparisons between Nolan’s Batman and Man of Steel ever since the first footage was shown at Comic Con this year. It’s good to hear Nolan saying that this is Snyder’s film. What do you think?
